What is Paediatric first aid training?
Paediatric first aid training focuses solely on young children and infants. Our course is designed to give you peace of mind on how to handle a wide range of illnesses, injuries, accidents, and emergencies while looking after a child.
First aid is not a one-size-fits-all approach – there are certain differences in approach between how you would handle a potentially life-threatening incident with a three-month-old baby compared with a 25-year-old adult. It’s important to know these differences if you look after a child or infant.
This engaging two-day Paediatric First Aid Training Course follows the syllabus of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and meets the requirements of Ofsted’s Compulsory Childcare Register.
The course is run as blended learning, combining online, at-home learning with traditional classroom-based teaching. The first part of the course is completed at home, at your own pace, with the final 6 hours to be conducted face to face in the classroom.
Paediatric Public Training Course Information
Our public courses are held in local venues across Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire and are open to the general public. You can also access a range of on-site paediatric courses through us.
Both our Emergency First Aid and one day course cover the essentials of Family First Aid.
This course is designed for anyone who wants to train or top up their knowledge of paediatric first aid. We’re a friendly bunch who want to make this life-saving training more accessible. So, whether you’re a babysitter, childminder, au pair or looking to change career paths to work with children, we can help you reach your goals whilst also helping you be a responsible child carer. We’ll prepare you with the essential tools and knowledge so you know exactly how to respond to a range of illnesses and incidents that are common with babies, toddlers and young children
Our paediatric training features both practical and theoretical elements to ensure you’re getting an interactive experience while covering the essential knowledge you need.
We cover a broad range of scenarios, illnesses, and injuries that are common in young children.
From covering the basic contents of a first aid kit and dealing with common insect bites, to handling more serious scenarios, such as CPR, choking, and diabetic emergencies – our aim is to give you the tools you need to not only safely and efficiently deal with children’s health conditions and accidents, but to also potentially save a child’s life.
At the end of the course you will receive a certificate and a paediatric first aid training booklet.
